Seven Bengals Sign with Major Colleges

Seven LSU Eunice Bengal baseball players have signed with major colleges in the area to continue their baseball careers. Players signed with LSU, UL Lafayette, UL Monroe, Nicholls, Southeastern, and the University of Houston.

Jordan Bourque and Tony Dischler, both signed with the University of Louisiana Lafayette. Bourque, a Teurlings Catholic graduate, played shortstop for the Bengals last season and Dischler is a pitcher who transferred to LSU Eunice from University of Louisiana Monore.

Mitch Hopkins signed with LSU. He is the third Bengal to sign with the Tigers in the last two years. Hopkins, a University High standout, is a left-handed pitcher.

Bengal outfielder Les Aulds will return to the Monroe area. The former West Monroe player signed with the University of Louisiana Monroe.

Ryan Broussard of Breaux Bridge was picked up by the University of Houston. Broussard saw action last season on the pitcher’s mound and at shortstop.

Former Zachary High standout Jacob Fisher inked a deal with Southeastern Louisiana University.

Joe Fabre, a right-handed pitcher from Catholic of Pointe Coupee, signed with Nicholls State University.

Under head coach Jeff Willis, the Bengals have had 76 players move on to play for 4-year colleges and 22 players drafted by Major League Baseball.
